People always ask me “what was the turning point in your life that led you to be where you stand today?” or “what book have you read to perceive life differently?” I realized that I have never openly expressed what was the life changing moment in my life. There were many different things that played a pivotal role in how I turned my life around, but only two things were the major key into my path towards enlightenment, those two being:
- I was tired
- The Book “Think and Grow Rich”
Yes, I was tired. Not physically tired, but emotionally tired. I despised everything my life stood for at the time. I felt like I was heading nowhere fast. College wasn’t supplying me with all the tools I needed to succeed in my life, so I had to go out and find my own set of tools. I was tired of the constant lie society had fed me about how to live life. Every waking day was a constant feeling of suffocation because I wasn’t doing something I loved. I hated going to school knowing that the information I was learning was never going to be applied towards my craft. So I decided to make drastic changes and drop out completely. Not only did I have a plan this time around, but I was willing to risk it all to execute my life long dream of becoming a writer.
Around the same time I made these changes, a book was recommended to me by a fellow friend of mine whom I work with closely now. The book was “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Of course I didn’t expect this book to make me rich off the back, but I knew this book had information inside that could change everything about the life I was currently living.
From the moment the book starts Napoleon Hill tells us the story how the book came about. He explains how Andrew Carnegie gave him a task of research to study the most successful entrepreneurs over the course of 20 years. And over those next 20 years he noticed how all who have taken the advice Andrew Carnegie had given them, had all become successful. The deeper you get into the book you start to realize that this book doesn’t have a secret formula that’ll bring you riches, this book will give you everything you need to change your mentality to one day bring you non-materialistic riches.
Most people who are reading this now are probably thinking “well if this book isn’t going to make me rich, then what’s the point of reading it?” That’s where you’ve made the mistake already. Having that mentality is why you’ll never achieve anything in life. In order to make drastic changes in your life you have to be open minded and willing to give something a try. Think and Grow Rich is for those who are willing to accept and are ready for this information. The book is not about how to make more money, but how to change the way you think to improve your livelihood.
I often ask others what their main goal in life is and most of the time the response look like this:
- To make money
- Buy an expensive car
- Buy a big house
- Marry someone based of their looks
Is that what you really think will bring you complete happiness? Because if that’s the case, then you’ll never acquire any of those materialistic items.
Think and Grow Rich teaches you how to dig deep inside and recognize the true importances of life. It enables you to become strong wilded and resilient in any moment of failure. Most importantly, Think and Grow rich explains how we humans have the power to create anything in which we can imagine(The Law of Attraction).
I’ve read hundreds of books throughout my lifetime, but this book definitely sparked everything inside of me to go out and chase what I desire. Although I was tired of the way life was playing out, nothing was going to change unless I changed my mentality, and Think And Grow Rich provided that.
It’s been almost a year since I first read the book and now every day I live my dreams. I constantly go back and re-read this book because there is always something new to learn from it. The book alone didn’t change my life, I changed my life, but this book allowed me to change the way I perceived everything. Go out and purchase a copy, soon you’ll begin to understand why this book is called “THINK and GROW rich”. You’ll thank me, I promise.
Success comes to those who become success conscious- Napoleon Hill
