How much time do you have left?

time

Everything you see in front of you, wont exist in a couple of years. Not the phone or the computer you’re reading this on, maybe this website won’t exist anymore, or even the people currently in your life. So why wait to appreciate something years down the line, instead of appreciating it right now? Why cant we look around us and truly enjoy the moment? Instead we’re focused on tomorrow or the next week. There’s so much beauty that surrounds us each and every day, learn to enjoy it now before it’s too late.

In this life nothing last forever. At any second everything you have today can be taken away tomorrow. We spend our whole lives thinking about the things we want to accomplish that we forget to live in the moment and enjoy the journey. I know I do. Especially when you got bullshit going on in your life. “How am I going to pay my rent?” or “How can I make some extra money?” this is the kind of shit that keeps us from living our life. I’ve been situations in life where instead of letting everything work itself out, I freak out and try to find a quick solution only to make the situation worse. I’ve seen friends and family members become consumed by the same ideologies  and never living for today. Imagine the things we could do if we weren’t so focused on the outcome of tomorrow.

I think social media plays a huge negative role in this as well. We consume so much information on a day to day basis that our brain tries to process everything only to forget about the current life we’re living. And sometimes even WE personally choose to forget about our own life through the use of screens, by either turning to our electronics or binge watching TV shows that add no significant value to our lives. Especially when people get off of work, all they want to do is relax so they turn to Netflix and next thing you know they’re 8 episodes deep. Then you go to sleep only to do it all over again tomorrow. I read an article in the NY Times that we watch an average of 29-32 hours a week of TV. That’s insane! That’s over 1500+ hours a year. It’s important to unplug sometimes and just let your mind be at ease, learn to be one with your thoughts and not always try to hide them through the use of screens.

You have to understand that every second that we get in our lives we wont ever get back. I don’t know about you, but in my lifetime I’ve wasted a lot of time, so I have no more to waste. But most of my time in the past was spent blaming other people for my own failures, instead of looking around me and just appreciating that I was alive and had things that other people might’ve not. I realize that now, but I wont ever get that time back. So now that I’m more aware of everything I try and just be grateful for the life I live. And it’s hard at times, especially during moments of desperation, but during those moments I take a step back and just unplug from the world. I’m human I know there’ll be moments where I throw my values out the door, but I always come back to them and thats what’s important.

My advice to you is just be grateful for the opportunities that surround you. Tell the people that love you that you love them back. Work hard towards your own dreams. And love yourself, that’s the only way to really live a healthy beautiful life. You’ll realize when it’s time to unplug from the world in order to give your mind a break — when it’s time make sure you do it. The clock is constantly ticking and never waits on anyone, will you let it run out? Or will you try to make the most of it?
